MD Complete’s Acne Clearing System Product Review

I’ve had little to no skin issues my entire life (not even as a teenager!) but noticed a change in my skin in the last 9 month or so. As a woman well over 40, I started experiencing periodic breakouts and it was not setting well with me. I tried DIY remedies to get back to normal and some of those seemed to make the problem worse. I discovered by doing some research that it is not uncommon for women my age to experience breakouts due to stress and hormonal changes. 

I know I was in need of a product to get me clear again and I was so glad MD Complete sent me their Acne Clearing System. The skin clearing system I received included Clarifying Cleanser (for gentle but deep cleaning), Breakout Treatment (to treat & prevent), and Citrus-C Healthy Complexion (diminishes post-acne dark marks and refines skin texture) plus Healthy Skin Probiotic dietary supplements for calm, clear and healthy-looking skin (taken internally). Let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE the smell of the Clarifying Cleanser! It has a soft, Citrus scent that is very pleasant. The other products have a similar pleasant smell as well and none of them leave your skin feeling “heavy” or weighted with product. They clearly state on the packaging that a little does a long way….no more than a nickel sized amount of the Clarifying Cleanser & no more than 2 pumps of the Breakout Treatment and the Healthy Complexion serum. 

Unfortunately, I miscalculated the frequency of my need for the system and for the first 3 or 4  days, I was using all three steps in the morning AND at night before bed. Apparently my skin is a little more sensitive than I realized and I experienced excessive drying on my chin & around my mouth. To rectify the drying & excessive peeling, I reduced my use to using the Cleanser at night only, used the Breakout Treatment during the day (and on an as needed basis at night) and the Healthy Complexion product at night only. 

I wanted to make sure that the results I obtained using the system would not be tainted in any way so I used little to no other “cleansing” products on my skin. I only used some Witch Hazel & Aloe Vera Gel (mainly when I had dried my face out) mainly to keep my skin moisturized.

While I have only been using they system for a little over 2 weeks, I have seen a difference in the clarity of my skin, the texture, the GLOW! I have also seen small patches of discoloration/post blemish marks fade…so much so, I didn’t even need to use any color correcting concealer under my Makeup! The system is a enough for a 60-day supply. The inclusion of the Healthy Skin Probiotic dietary supplements was nice to try (there were 5 single use vials included). I’m seriously wanting to continue to use the Probiotics as they are “a more complete approach to addressing more of the conditions that aggravate acne”. Ciel Noir: I realized I had a gift when I started making YouTube videos and it resulted in subscribers, positive feedback and opportunities to work with various brands.

CMB:  Do you have a signature look you like to do/create

Ciel Noir: If I had to go with a signature look it would probably be natural hues on the eyes with a bold pop of color on the lips topped off with lashes and a soft gold toned highlight.

CMB:  What color palette do you tend to gravitate towards & why?

Ciel Noir: I love natural everyday makeup looks derived from deep browns, coppers, and golds. I think these colors look amazing on brown skin.

CMB:  Current favorite Makeup trend?

Ciel Noir: I prefer classic timeless looks that can be recreated over and over again.

CMB:  Do you think social media has been a benefit or detriment for Makeup Artists? And why for either

Ciel Noir: I think social media has had a positive impact on the makeup industry and influencers. I initially learned how to do makeup from social media. It allows like minded individuals to create a community where we are able to support one another and showcase our work. It  also gives us the platform to promote ourselves and be involved in brand campaigns which help to generate revenue.

CMB:  What do you love most about Makeup?

Ciel Noir: I love the transformational aspects of makeup. 

CMB:  What 1 Makeup item/product is your must-have?

Ciel Noir: MAC fix + spray. At the start of a makeup application it helps to blend foundation flawlessly and used after applying setting powder it gives the look an amazing dewy skin-like finish.

CMB:  Why do think Makeup Artistry has become so popular online in recent years?

Ciel Noir: In my opinion makeup artistry is extremely popular on social media nowadays because the beauty industry generates billions in revenue and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube and online blogs have helped to bring awareness to different brands, techniques, and influencers worldwide. CMB:  What is your skincare routine?

Ciel Noir: I use Neutrogena face wash, a mix of apple cider vinegar and water as a toner, and cocoa butter as a moisturizer.  I exfoliate and apply masks weekly.

CMB:  If anything, what would you change about the beauty/Makeup industry?

Ciel Noir: I would like to see more women of color represented in advertising.

CMB:  What has been your least favorite Makeup trend?

Ciel Noir: Those weird braided eyebrows (lol)

CMB:  Must-do Makeup tip for the everyday woman?

Ciel Noir: Your skin is your canvas - take care of it. Also, do not sleep in your makeup. It increases the aging process.

CMB:  What advice would you give an up & coming Makeup Artist or someone thinking about a career as an MUA?

Ciel Noir: If you are really passionate about being in the beauty industry put yourself out there. Find a platform. Things do not have to be perfect for you to start. Make steps to learn, practice, and elevate your craft.

CMB:  Where do you see yourself 5 years from now.

Ciel Noir: Progressing as an influencer and doing more of what I love.
